I was trying to add photos but it's been awhile since I posted and I'm having trouble figuring it out
I took a risk and went out on a limb and won a sailor moon cel lot there was only a few I wanted and the others I want to sell
The one I wanted the most is damaged and I really want to save her the whole cel is warped wavy it's not flat anymore. I seen this is being called vinegar syndrome the sketch is stuck to the cel I ordered microchamber paper and I am trying to air them out
One other sailor moon cel has curled but not ripply would that be from this vinegar syndrome too?
All of the cels have a mildew smell but not all have a vinegar scent none of them are distorted just the 2
but any good advice I could use I never experienced this before And Didn't think all of them would have a mildew smell
The description only mention the one having an odor and distortion it didn't say any others did
Also I've been researching conservation but I only seen a little information on that and I don't know who to trust
I want to stay very positive on this
Thank you so much

Re: HELP with Mildew smell and Vinegar Syndrome
I used Cel Oasis on a cel that had the plastic a bit warped when I got it. It didn't smell, just had that physical sign. Of course there's no way of telling how effective the treatment was, and the wavyness often can't go away, but I wanted to give it a shot anyway. The cel bag it's in now with microchamber paper hasn't wrinkled up since getting it back thankfully.D123 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 15, 2021 2:06 pm I was trying to add photos but it's been awhile since I posted and I'm having trouble figuring it out

I didn't hear good things about them here
https://www.reddit.com/r/AnimationCels/ ... sis_legit/ I know they were talking about their frames but it just doesn't feel right. I seen this one site called Animation Sensations I was going to call them and see what they say I liked the look of their site I don't see much sites out there for this
After airing the cels the mildew smell went away!

Re: HELP with Mildew smell and Vinegar Syndrome
I had read up on them in posts on here I believe, and in the FB group, and saw a bunch of positive comments. I had debated giving them a shot for a few months before I received the one wavy cel. That was the only cel I sent off to them, just to see how the process went. I looked at this other company, looks like they mostly fix the chipped off paint? I didn't see anything mentioned about fixing VS on the conservation page. It would be great if there was a really good reliable resource in that department.
I've been using the microchamber paper for years and it has definitely made an improvement in my cels, as you can see that their cel bags wrinkle very little now. I baby my cels, which is quite the task, given the volume I own.

Re: HELP with Mildew smell and Vinegar Syndrome
On Cel Oasis they show a before and after with the wavyness gone after their treatment for VS, reading their page I feel like they seem to be promising a difference with that...What was the process like? Did you see any difference at all? I'm just scared of being scammed or never seeing the cel again and don't want to send it back to Japan where they are basedtarakatsuki wrote: ↑Thu Dec 16, 2021 8:55 pm I had read up on them in posts on here I believe, and in the FB group, and saw a bunch of positive comments. One other place mentioned conservation and how they made Anime a specialty it didn't mention VS either and I didn't like the site
So I'm going to see what Animation Sensations might say about it
