Opening cels on the new DVD's?

I'm unsure Saiyanwolf ? I haven't researched the differences between Japanese and American and what would even be considered an eyecatch? One of these days I'll do some serious comparisons between them but I still need to aquire the whole series.

It's just like the difference between the American OP and Japanese OP cels. I have no clue what the American eyecatches even look like - if they even made any. If it's not the original produced by Toei as an eyecatch (or OP) it's not authentic.

Here's a couple examples of eyecatches from a Japanese collectors private collection:

There are also eyecatches for a few of the movies, as well as ones from the Saiyan saga that I've not seen in any collections. I'm sure someone has some screencaps or something around but I haven't looked at any DBZ images galleries for years. :lol:

SW - on the English versions I have seen those eyecatches. It seems that the US versions have all the correct Op and eyecatches as the Japanese except the earlier Dragonball episodes of the Saiyan Saga and Frieza Saga. They should have just left everything alone.

Well, if the US version and the Japanese version of the OP and eyecatches are the same then obviously they'd be official OP/Eyecatch cels.

The way I look at is this - would TOEI say they were OP cels? Would a cel dealer label a cel from the crappy Rock the Dragon US opening as an OP cel? No. While some people might want to consider those cels to be "real" OP cels, it's basically wishful thinking. It's not an official studio produced opening, it's just something Funimation tossed together because they obviously think Americans want to hear the OP in English rather then the Japanese opening themes. Me, I want to see the anime as it was first produced - with no cuts, no cheesy additions, etc
