Wow, real Hellsing sketches! That is really really cool. If you ever want to sell an Integra, *wink* you'd know who to e-mail. :D

I haven't gotten into too much of the cg stuff yet, mainly because...I just can't get as excited over it as I can over a cel. I know, there really isn't all that much difference, they are both "originals", but the cels are just so much more impressive then a piece of paper.

That said, I mainly collect from Chobits, DBZ, and Hellsing so far, but I have original sketches on the way from Fruits Basket and Kino's Journey-kino is definately one I will be actively pursuing. I would love to find some from Haibane, or Witch Hunter Robin, ROD, perhaps even Wolf's Rain if I can convince myself to cough up the cash.
Hi Tabbykitty, :) we havent met but i have to say that i :love2 LOVE  your noir cels, very cool. 8) I noticed you are also pursuing kino items, did you see the last batch on YJ. I sat out on those and am glad i did. I would have grossly underbid on them, :P since i spent a wad on a batch the previous week. Out of curiosity, have you ever seen any haibane stuff? The most ive ever seen are storyboards and copied settei.
Well, i just had to say a hello since we have similiar tastes. :^^:

Oh, believe me, not only do I know, but I've already torn much of my hair out over the fact that I don't have a damn thing from your wishlist with which to beg a trade. They're absolutely beautiful, and one of them in particular I envy you with an abiding passion. Congratulations on a fantastic score!!

As for myself and sketches, I just acquired a small sequence from Full Metal Alchemist. No hints yet on what it is, but I do promise to animate it and post to the forum once it arrives. Muahahahahahahahah... :evilblk

favorite sketches

Post by Dustie »

Have to say, I enjoy collecting from 12 Kingdoms (Juuni Kokki) the most. Fruits Basket and Saiyuki occasionally.

Series I would like to find.. hmm Yami no Matsuei, Angel Sanctuary, Mermaid's Forest (TV), Gravitation (TV), and Mirage of Blaze. :D

My favorite to collect from has to be RahXephon, I just can't find enough sketches I like, or people who will sell them to me.

Sometime after Thanksgiving break (aka Deer Camp break in this area), I need to sell some Samurai Deeper Kyo genga. I also own a ton of copy stuff I bought from Mandarake a while back thats going to go as well.

:D :D Let me know if you're in the market right now for RahXephon -- I'm thinking of selling two or three more sketches, and would like to make sure the right people get first chance. I don't want to flog 'em off to strangers on eBay...

Anyway, as to CG series we love to collect, I now have to add Saiyuuki! Who'd have thought that I'd fall in love with this, when I dislike the animation so much? But damn, the sketches look just like the manga art, and I love the manga, heh... I just kind of wish they'd never tried to animate it, or at least not without a much better budget.

Ah, well. I sure do love the pretty sketches. :)

Oh my ... I laughed SO HARD when I went back and read my original reply in this thread, especially considering how much my Saiyuki collection has grown since I first started collecting and first posted here on Beta. (around the time of my original post in this thread)

I suppose, though, hindsight really is 20/20 -- :crackup

I still collect Saiyuki (in all its forms -- Gensoumaden, Reload/Gunlock, Kibou no Saiga, Requiem) with an almost obsessive-compulsive fervor. The other shows I listed in my original response have yet to show up in my gallery, although I will soon have a couple of Weiss Gluhen sketches on the way, thanks to Titania. *gloms Titania*

Yami no Matseui artwork seems to be too scarce, so I've pretty much given up on ever having any of it. Ditto with Pretear. After watching more of the show, I decided I did not like Wolf's Rain enough to collect from it -- in fact, I found the show so depressing I could not finish watching it, although I think the art is beautiful. I love Fruits Basket, but decided I did not like it enough to compete for sketches.

Other sketch luvs that have now appeared in my gallery: Loveless -- I hope I'm able to get more sketches from this show; Shaman King -- which I would buy more sketches from, if I could find them; Samurai Champloo -- mostly production copies, although I still adore them & I would love to get some more original sketches, if I can find any I'm willing to go broke for. Also, I started a sketch collection for Nightwalker sketches. This was a cel-based show, but I really like a lot of the production sketches that have been coming onto the market.

(Incidentally, I also had to laugh when I read my comment about not browsing YJ. Ah ... how quickly times change. *iz now a YJ-addict* :OMG *)

:D This topic is before my time (on beta that is  ), but still a good question, maybe even more so due to the fact that cels are becoming so scarce.
My favorite cg series to collect from is Fruits Basket, but I also collect from Naruto, Saiyuki, Samurai Deeper Kyo, E's Otherwise, and a few others.

As a side: it was great fun to go back and read through this topic. I noticed a few things are easier to find than they were a few years back (FB and SDK to name a few), but a few are still a little impossible to find (no Yami no Matsuei still /sob ). Maybe wait a few more years and they'll pop up? :hitting:

The only CG I have collected from so far is Fruits Basket. I suppose I'm normally too busy spending tons on cels to spend so much on sketches, but I do not think it is that as much as it is that I simply have not had the time to watch very many CG yet! I'm working on it though, this post has given me some great ideas!

Well, seeing as how I have 40 sets, I would say my taste
in CG has switched drastically to Hikaru No Go. :P
