Ambassador Magma is a rather 'old' series.
From the little I know of it I can tell the title character is yellow, possible a (giant) robot and all the characters look like they would fit in in the early "astro boy" series.

The Doctor : … and then, just to finish off, I’m going to wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky !
Dalek : But you have no weapons ! No defenses ! No plan !
The Doctor : Yeah ! And doesn’t that scare you to death ?

This is a fooking old skool anime series, it was even released on the Kiseki label in the UK around 1993, although the appearance of it is early 80's. As Gabe mentions, it's about a couple of kids who call up a big gold-coloured, humanoid robot. It's crap. ha ha ha!

I actually used to have some cels from that series. They were freebies that came with other cels I had bought. I actually managed to sell them, tho.

Hmmmm.....maybe I can still find copies of the '93 release then! :D Too bad the general consensus seems to be that it sucks :? My elf guy is just too hot to not at least watch once though!!! :D

I looked for the anime in the Anime encyclopedia and here's a little more info for you.

It's based on a minor manga by Osamu Tezuka (Astro Boy). It never was made into an anime during his lifetime, though some artwork was completed for it. Many years later, when his estate wanted to adapt all of Tezuka's work for a new generation, Ambassador Magma was finally made. The 13 ep.series was deliberately designed in an old fashioned anime style mimicing the original manga. It was primarilly geared to children. ( As a side note, the rubber suited aliens and mecha live action series Space Giants was also based on the same manga.) The opinionated people who assembled the Anime Encyclopedia had mixed feelings about the show but felt it explored some interesting science fiction concepts.

"Dispite its camp villians, the story has its scary moments - and is simply bursting with ideas and relationships that the X-Files later reprised, such as covert alien take-overs, human sleeper agents, and time disturbances."
