ebay DOESN'T accept non-credit card Paypal??

Post by Elfstalker »

Is this new?

Okay so I listed 2 auctions today and posted that I do not accept credit card Paypal. I have my reasons for this, mainly that I do not sell often so paying 4% is not what I want.

I get an email a few hours later from ebay that they ended my auctions because for me to use Paypal, I need to be able to accept all kinds of Paypal payment. :x

I haven't sold things in awhile on eeeevil bay, so I'm wondering if this is new.

That's atrocious. They're getting my 4% and ebay seller fees.

That's weird! I see that caveat in e-bay listings all the time!

It figures though. :x Like they're not making enough money.

There was just another thread where this happened.

If you only take non-credit card Paypal, you can't have Paypal as an option of payment on your Ebay auctions. I'm sure you can put it in the auction description however, just not have Paypal showing as an accepted payment method in that particular section where you tick the boxes as to what you accept. But you probably know that by now anyway. ^_^;

Edit: Forgot to add that it's been this way for a while I believe. Over a year I'd say but I forget exactly when the Ebay rule about Paypal surcharging came out.

I started accepting non-credit card paypal payments within the last couple of months. I was told that if I DID use the paypal payment option then I would HAVE to accept credit card/debit payments. So each time I post a new auction I only mention in the items description that I will accept the non-cc paypal payments. I'm trying to avoid the fees as well since I rarely sell on ebay and don't wish to upgrade my paypal account.

I haven't had any problems with auction cancellations from ebay yet even though I do my auctions this way. *knock on wood*

I think I'll do what Sugarflower suggested. Thanks!

Actually, when you got deeper into the thread, I started complaining about the same thing. I've just recently discovered that if you don't choose Paypal when listing, you can still get caught and have your listings removed. It's really an arbitrary thing--like gambling. :D I get my thrills by listing things on Ebay. :evil2 :crackup :joke

I think it might have something to do with the phrasing. If you say: "No credit cards through paypal," you might get caught (this is the phrasing I have been using). But if you say: "I'll accept non-cc paypal payments," the bot might not catch that. If Sugarflower has had some luck with this phrasing, then it's worth a try. There's an automated checker they have running through all of the auctions. Sometimes they remove all of your auctions ending on the same day, sometimes they remove one of your auctions. :shrug I'm pretty sure the entire process is run by a program, even though they claim that they check your record before deciding whether to delist your item or contact you. My record is spotless, and I got no prior contact. :tongue

I'll have to try that other phrasing the next time I list something.

Ewww, that truely is evil!! I didn't know ebay had a checker! I guess I've been lucky so far with my auctions. I still have loads of stuff to eventually sell since we will be moving by January so I hope my luck doesn't run out until everything is gone.

Here is the payment statement that I use for all my auctions:
Non-Credit Card/Debit Paypal Payments - Non-credit card/debit means that you can pay by using paypal only if the funds are coming directly from a Paypal account or by using an e-check. WE ABSOLUTELY DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARD/DEBIT PAYMENTS THROUGH PAYPAL.

I may need to change that if ebay is knocking off peoples auctions. It a shame that they have to be so strict.
