Now when a guy gets shot in the head, it’s a bullet with some blood, but in the 80’s, it would go slow motion, you’d get a close up, followed by an X-ray shot of the bullet going through the guy’s head into his brain, and then it would be a shot of the back of his head exploding. A lot of scenes had additional gratuitous gore, like the exploded vampire coming back together in the 3rd “Cyber City” OAV (musculature slowly forms around a migrating eyeball.)
