Re-scanning everything might take a long time, but it will be well worth it and it's showing that already :)

I'm looking forward to seeing the DSA settei! And from the scans you have up at the moment, it looks like you have a really good set.

As much as I like Kite and Mezzo Forte, does anyone else notice now disproportionate the women are compared to the men?

I just have to know if I'm the only one who is bothered by that little detail.

I love your updates Silus!

Yeah, it certainly is taking longer than I thought, but the gallery is looking better than before. I'm even thinking of adding new layout elements :)

DSA settei should be faster to scan, so I hope to update all images with higher quality scans and add a few new ones, next week.

Did you receive your KUJUKU Artworks book yet ? It's awesome isn't it ? :)

I'm usually not fond of close-ups, but lately a few have popped up, that I really enjoy. The first one was Mikura's face, in the dream sequence of Mezzo Forte OVA1 and now Nina's face. The fact that it came with the original background was an awesome bonus ^^

As for the proportions of Mr Umetsu's women when compared to the men, yeah, it's true. I think it's used to enhance the already violent situations the girls are usually in, specifically the rape scenes. They are even more disturbing when the girls are completely powerless against these "ugly giants". This is especially evident in the Yellow Star OVA.

I updated the gallery with a few more cels to Hurricane Polymar:

http://silusatrium.rubberslug.com/galle ... esID=32854

And Mezzo DSA was finally updated with higher quality scans, along with 6 more sketches:

http://silusatrium.rubberslug.com/galle ... esID=32226

I also added a new book to the artbooks section:

http://silusatrium.rubberslug.com/galle ... esID=32318

I'm left with the Backgrounds and My Drawings section, to update with higher quality scans.
I'm thinking of removing my DBZ drawings and make the My Drawings section exclusive to drawings based on Mr Umetsu's work. I'll upload one or two Yellow Star based drawings, in my next update and will update my Mikura drawing with something better in quality.

Goo to see the Polymer cels, Silus. I wondered which one's you obtained; the ones with backgrounds are particularly eye-catching.

You've added the first Key Animation book, do you have the others? I can't remember what you told me last time because you have so many of the Umetsu books!
BTW, I won the Medley of Design book recently so I'll be interested to see what that's like. You could put that on your site and save me all the effort and hassle of opening the pages myself; j/k

Yeah. It was a pleasant surprise to receive original backgrounds, since I don't remember that piece of info on the auction's description, so I thought they were copies.

Yes, I have all of them. I want to upload a picture of the inside of each book, as I did with the Yellow Star artbook, but that's something I'll have to do later :)

Well, unfortunately, the book is kind of small, so you won't take long to see the whole book. But it's a treat, especially since it's probably the closest thing to the "Yasuomi Umetsu sketchbook" I mentioned in one of my blog entries!

Thanks! Now that I scanned everything in higher-quality, I'll update the Mezzo DSA regularly. It's quite big and I don't even have the complete one.
Thanks!
I actually had my eyes on another Novar cel, but I was outbid. It was a cel of him fighting Polymar. Actually, he was not fighting, he was humiliating Polymar. For those that watched these two OVAs, you'll understand what I'm saying. Novar is really powerful :)

At last an update!

New A Kite cel:

http://silusatrium.rubberslug.com/galle ... esID=31000

7 new Mezzo DSA settei sketches:

http://silusatrium.rubberslug.com/galle ... esID=32226

I also created a new section dedicated to Poster art:

http://silusatrium.rubberslug.com/galle ... esID=33421

And last but not least, I added another drawing of mine:

http://silusatrium.rubberslug.com/galle ... esID=31553

As I mentioned in my latest blog entry, I removed all of my DBZ drawings and will keep this section dedicated to my drawings based on Mr Umetsu's work. This one is of Ayana, from Yellow Star. I still need to give my Mikura drawing the same post processing I applied to Ayana's drawing. I will update the gallery with it, next week.

Enjoy! :)

I can't get over how clean the DSA settei is Silus. You really got a good set there.

I like the idea of the poster section too :)

Yeah, I think it's a good one, but It's not that clean. There's some post processing work I apply to all the images I display on the site, even if sometimes it's just a crop or brigthness/contrast adjustments. For the settei however, there are always some unnecessary dots or lines that I usually remove, before displaying the images.

As for the poster section, thanks :)
I'm sure that, since you have the KUJUKU artworks book too, you already noticed the detail I mentioned in the description of the Yellow Star poster. For some reason the Yellow Star pills falling off Fujisawa's hand, didn't make it to the poster.

I usually remove all the photocopy spots on my settei too. but even the lines on your DSA set are really clean and crisp.

I did notice that. But I can't really offer any sort of explination as to why they would be edited out. Are there any laws in Japan that prohibit drugs/medication to be shown on readily seen media promo items? Perhaps that's why they were left out?

The other option could be that they were added to the artworks book and other pictures, adn the poster used a first-run image. However the position of Fujisawa's hand doesn't really support that thoery. it's got me beat :shrug :P

I have no idea either, but that bit of detail makes sense in the context of the episode. The pills DO give the name to the episode , so they should probably appear in the promo stuff. The pills are also not in the cover of the Yellow Star artbook. They really only appear in Mr Umetsu's artworks book.
