No worries - Hellmaster is fine. Anya collects the Hellmaster cels and all of her cels were 160 miles away. :)

I was digging through the garbage can that contained the remains of my cel books and I found my very burned Escaflowne book. It is still wet (after 2 weeks!) so I need to carefully take it apart - I'm worried about mildew on top of everything else.

Dear Kero,

What is important is that you are all right and that no one you loved is hurt in any way. We all put a lot of love into our possessions, and animation art deserves this love as much as anything that we own, the more so because they are not just rare, but unique. But life and health (though we tend to take them for granted) are truly even more precious. We are sad for the loss of your cels and sketches, but they can be replaced. A life cannot.

Thank you for using your loss to remind us all of this essential fact.

hey there,

I just read this thread and am not sure how to express myself, aside from saying that I'm very sorry for the terrible ordeal you must have gone through. I recognize some of those cels from my old collection.

I think that creating a new gallery for the damaged cels is in a way creating new art out of old art. perhaps you could find a proper channel to display this gallery? it makes an interesting statement.

you'll get nothing but support from this group! cheer up, like sensei said at least you and anya are well. :) one time I lost all of my prized posessions at once, and from that experience I learned how to push through the pain and figure out how to create good things from what seemed to be a dire situation.

Alas, I was wrong. The Escaflowne cel book is quite absent. I did find a a pile of unscanned genga. Some were from Escaflowne (one set was a dying Folken), some from Inuyasha after it went CG, and one from Fushigi Yuugi. I think that enough of them are left that they are not lost to the world forever.

Glad to hear some things were left unharmed! Perhaps finding these sketches are a sign of more positive things to come. :)

I know I am late saying this and its been said by many, but I am so sorry for your loss. I just had a horrible, sick feeling in my stomach the whole time I was looking at gallery Inferno. It must be like a waking nightmare...

I noticed that your situation is making a lot of other cel collectors nervous thinking about their own collections, me included. Your story has motivated me into getting some insurance for my cels.

I'm glad though that half of the cels were in a safe place and didn't get harmed. I think you should sue the guy that caused the fire up and down. What if your whole house burned down? What if someone had been hurt?

While I would like to sue the guy, it would mean declaring war on my in-laws since he is a personal friend of theirs. His insurance is covering the house (it was his job, after all) because it was my in-laws new house and their insurance is making him cover it, but we found out much too late that I am not covered because I am a "friend" instead of a legal spouse and my in-laws think that these silly cartoon things aren't worth anything no matter what I tell them. Grrr...

You bought a good chunk of your Slayers cels from me when I was a poor college student... I've been visiting them several times a week in your gallery every since. My heart is breaking with you, I can't imagine just how awful a thing this would be to go through.

On the other hand, if you put notes on your slayers cels that you need high-res scans for, I'll see what I can do. I'm on my way to Florida, but I can dig through old hard drives when I come back.

Sorry for your loss :-(

Urm...they are pieces of art. What if you had a Van Gogh that got ruined. "Just a silly mix of paint." Its the same thing. It is pretty callus of them not to understand...sounds like they have already declared war on you.

From what I've seen you easily lost thousands of dollars of artwork, that isn't something that should be brushed aside. X|

Now that I'm seeing beyond the loss of the cels and re-read the thing... this makes me angry. Law equality is so overdue I find it positively sickening. The tide is turning though, hopefully you'll at least that much sorted out soon.

Wishing you the best,

- Karen
