Here's one of the surviving posts about him:

I think I am the opposite. I would rather know what I missed even when I don't get there fast enough to get it.sensei wrote:I guess over time I've learned to browse when I have funds and look for the best items I can get with what I have. It's Lent, and anyhow funds that in previous years went to "May Madness" savings funds now are going toward easing the transition when I move from salary to retirement. So I'm not browsing auctions at all. "Wishlists" may appear and disappear this month; I'm not aware. But I'm happy that when I was solvent and had money to set aside, I learned to use it wisely, in focused bursts of spending.
I just never assume that I'm going to win something. If something looks too good to be true, I just assume I'm not going to win it. I assume someone is going to swoop in and outbid me at the last moment. So when I lose something I'm not as disappointed. And I always leave the possibility of me being able to bid my max.
If I give up before reaching my max it was because of my own decision and if I bid my max and lose well...I didn't seriously expect to win it anyway. I wanted to win it, but that's the way it goes. If I get too frustrated with it then I just give up on the series (as I did with Rurouni Kenshin, PSME, etc) and then just move onto another series that I like.
Life's too short for me to get frustrated over something like that. There's plenty of other anime in the sea even when I'm never able to win artwork that I want (for the price) from certain shows that I like (as was the case with those Sentimental Journey bkg cels)
